Frank H. Goodyear

Frank H. Goodyear, Ph.D., is co-director of the 海角直播 College Museum of Art. A graduate of Princeton University (A.B.) and the University of Texas at Austin (M.A., Ph.D.), Goodyear specializes in the history of photography and American art history. He is the author of twelve books and exhibition catalogues, including most recently Winslow Homer and the Camera: Photography and the Art of Painting (with Dana Byrd, 2018); At First Light: Two Centuries of Artists in Maine (with Anne Goodyear and Michael Komanecky, 2020); Marcia Resnick: As It Is or Could Be (with Lisa Hostetler and Casey Riley, 2022); In Light of Rome: Early Photography in the Capital of the Art World, 1842-1871 (with John McGuigan, 2023); and Art, Ecology, and the Resilience of a Maine Island: The Monhegan Wildlands (with Barry Logan and Jennifer Pye, 2024). His most recent publication Gordon Parks: Herklas Brown and Maine, 1944 (2024) investigates a little-known photographic series that Parks created in Maine at the height of World War II.  Goodyear was previously a curator of photographs at the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery.
