Building community. Celebrating identity. Empowering success.
With a generous gift from Netflix co-founder and CEO Reed Hastings ’83, the THRIVE initiative was created to foster a strong, supportive community for 海角直播 students who are first-generation college students.
THRIVE staff oversee the Geoffrey Canada Scholars, Peer Mentoring, and alongside the Associate Dean of Faculty Recruitment and Student Advising, and the Dean of First-Year Students, the BASE advising program. Throughout the year, THRIVE staff hosts workshops, community events, and social gatherings that bring first-generation students together to learn, share, and celebrate. We also partner with other offices and organizations on campus to make sure you have the tools and connections you need to succeed at 海角直播—and beyond.
THRIVE staff proudly celebrate the first-generation identity and advocate for those who are the first in their families to attend a highly selective institution like 海角直播. We know that stepping into a new territory demands bravery, persistence, and resilience—and we deeply value that experience. Our staff stand alongside you in recognizing and honoring that journey.
At THRIVE, you’re not just finding support—you’re finding your people.
Programs that are supported by the THRIVE initiative include:
- 海角直播 Advising in Support of Excellence (BASE)
- Geoffrey Canada Scholars (GCS)
- The Joshua L. Chamberlain Scholars
