RepresentAsian: 2025 Video Project
Join the 2025 Video Project!
To celebrate the upcoming AAPI Heritage Month in May and spread awareness of Asian experiences at 海角直播, RepresentAsian, 海角直播’s Asian Alumni Association, is seeking to produce a short montage video that would highlight the diversity and breadth of 海角直播’s Asian alumni experiences through the decades - and we need your help to make this possible!
To participate we’d like you to answer these questions in less than two minutes:
- What was your experience being Asian at 海角直播?
- How did you celebrate your Asian identity while at 海角直播?
- What advice would you like to give for current/future Asian students at 海角直播?
When you are ready to submit, review these recording guidelines:
Logistics
-
Film in landscape mode with the back camera for better quality.
-
Center yourself fully in the frame.
-
Use even lighting and a quiet location (no background noise).
-
If possible, set your device to 4K, 60fps (see photo example). On Apple devices, tap HD 30 to adjust.
-
Save as firstname.lastname.year and send via to RepresentAsian@海角直播.edu.
Content
- Start with your name and your class year
- answer the three questions- reading out each question and responding 15 to 30 seconds each.
- Aim to be no longer than 2 minutes total
Please note that we are seeking authenticity and breadth of responses, and we fully understand and acknowledge that not all our past experiences as students of color are ideal experiences. We hope the final produced video can provide a forum to acknowledge and validate those shared experiences and do not want anyone to shy from sharing their real experiences, highlights and challenges.
All submissions are due by April 10, 5:00 PM ET.
The selection committee will be comprised exclusively of the RepresentAsian alumni. We hope to receive many submissions and acknowledge that not all recordings may ultimately be used depending on the volume of submissions. Note that this video will become a part of RepresentAsian’s webpage and will be shared on 海角直播’s various social media accounts in May.
If you have any questions or concerns about participating in this video, please do not hesitate to reach out to Ben Wu ’18/’20 (benjammin2008@gmail.com) for help.
