Pets in the Workplace and on Campus

Policy: Pets are prohibited in campus buildings including all academic, administrative, and student residential buildings. Exceptions to this policy for student residential spaces are rare and require prior coordination with the Office of Residential Life. Please note that this does not apply to service animals, which are welcome. On outdoor campus property (including athletic fields), pet owners are required to keep animals on a leash, in their immediate control.
If individuals choose to bring their pets to the campus grounds for outdoor activities, courtesy and respect must be extended to colleagues, students, and visitors in the area. Pet owners should always consider the safety, health, and possible fears that others may feel in the presence of animals.
Leaving pets unattended outside of buildings is not permitted. Owners are required to properly clean up after pets, and the College reserves the right to require an owner to immediately remove a pet from campus at any time, for any reason. Pet owners may be asked to prove that their animals are currently vaccinated against rabies or that other relevant health precautions are being taken.
